OK , we've arrived at this stage with your Passion tucked under your arm. Now we have to find out
how much you know about the subject and to find out if there is a market for you. We need to do
some digging around - Some Research.
What are we looking for?
We need to find people who are equally as passionate
about your subject as you are.
We need to find people who have money to spend.
Think about it... It's pointless trying to promote your passion for Foreign Stock
Exchanges to the unemployed. (Make sense?)
We need to find a large enough market for you to
participate in.
KEYWORD
Cut and Paste that word and
stick it above your workplace.
The importance of Keywords throughout the construction of your business
and your website is vitally important. As you progress through the Steps you will keep on seeing
references to this important aspect.
So...In all essence, what we are looking for is the perfect Keyword for Your
Business.
We need to find people who are equally as passionate about
your subject as you are.
So where do we start looking?
Try looking in your local retail magazine outlet. See
how many magazines are published on your chosen topic.
Take a look at your cable/satellite channels to see if
they have set a channel set aside covering your chosen topic.
Keep your eyes and ears open. Listen to what people are
talking about with regard to your chosen topic. Radio shows. Restaurants.
Join Newsgroups/Bulletin Boards etc. about your topic
and watch and listen to what the group are saying or struggling with.
Straight away you must be realising that this part of the step is going to take up a fair chunk of
your time. Don't try and race through it. IT'S YOUR BUSINESS!!
Bull Free Fact.....
GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS WHAT
THEY WANT!
NOT WHAT YOU THINK
THEY NEED!
OK , I can hear you saying to yourself what on earth does he mean?
People buy EMOTIONALLY not LOGICALLY.
It is a well known fact that the majority of the population if they were suddenly handed a good
sized windfall would rather spend their money on Wants rather than Needs.
Most people are happy to buy information that will help them to pursue their dreams and
ambitions.
Therefore - Your Business needs to appeal to: Their Wants Their Desires Their Dreams Their Aspirations
In a nutshell...You Must Define Your Market and Find What They WANT!
The tighter you can focus your search the better chance you have of success.
Let's take an example:
Dogs -Market size is Huge. Cocker Spaniel. - Market has narrowed down. Cocker Spaniel Training - Market is getting down to some nitty gritty
enthusiasts. Stopping your Cocker Spaniel Biting - My word - You've just fallen into a
niche market...
Now do some Research of your own.
Lets's Go Find Your Market.
Probably the most common search tool that is being used to locate 'niche' markets is a
tool called Wordtracker.
There are other tools on the market but I won't digress. If we use the free version of Wordtracker
for now we will get an idea of what you should be looking for.
The object of this exercise is find out how many searches have been done per day for the KEYWORD
that you are looking for.
Your target is around the 3000 searches per month mark. (So. Daily target multiply by 30).
